Deputies: Stray bullet damages Bradenton woman's car

January 18, 2014

— A Bradenton woman's car was apparently damaged by a stray bullet Friday night, authorities said.

A woman who lives in the 5800 block of 12th Street East heard a strange noise outside her residence sometime around 11:15 p.m., according to a Manatee County Sheriff's Office report.

When she went outside, she found her vehicle had damage to the windshield and the roof above it.

The damage "appears to have been caused by a stray bullet ricocheting off the windshield and then grazing the roof above it," the report states.

No bullet casings or projectiles were found, authorities said.

At the same time of the incident, dispatch received a call about a man shooting at four other men who were running down the road, according to the report. None of the men was found and no injuries were reported, the sheriff's office said.
