Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Zach LaVine netted a team-high 19 points on 8-of-12 shooting as the UCLA Bruins cruised past the Arizona State Sun Devils, 87-72, in Pac-12 Conference play at Pauley Pavilion.
Kyle Anderson scored 17 points, grabbed 13 rebounds and dished out seven assists for UCLA (13-3, 2-1 Pac-12). Jordan Adams contributed 15 points and seven rebounds, while Bryce Alford chipped in 13 and Norman Powell scored 11 with five rebounds in the win. The Bruins have won four of their last five contests.
Jermaine Marshall led all scorers with 25 points on 9-of-14 shooting, including 5-of-8 from 3-point range, and pulled down five rebounds for Arizona State (13-4, 2-2). Jordan Bachynski netted 14 points with eight rebounds and Jonathan Gilling had 10 in the loss. The defeat snaps a two-game win streak for the Sun Devils.
UCLA had the advantage right from the opening tip. The Bruins connected on 47.2 percent of their shots in the first half, including 5-of-9 from 3-point range, and took a 50-33 lead into the break. Arizona State hit 37 percent of its shots from the floor in the first frame.
The Sun Devils made a run at the Bruins in the second half, cutting the lead to single digits before UCLA was able to regain control. The Bruins shot 43.5 percent in the second half to Arizona State's 48.3 percent from the field.
UCLA had the edge from the free-throw line, hitting 26-of-35 attempts to Arizona State's 14-of-23. The Bruins held an 11-0 advantage in second-chance points and a 35-9 edge in bench points.
