Recap: UC Santa Barbara vs. Cal Poly

Santa Barbara, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Anthony Silvestri scored 17 points on 6-of-8 shooting as the Cal Poly Mustangs defeated the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos 72-64 in a Big West tilt at the Thunderdome.

Silverstri connected on 5-of-7 from beyond the arc and Dave Nwaba scored 14 points for the Mustangs (6-9, 2-0 Big West). Chris Eversley had 13 points while Taylor Sutlive chipped in 11. Kyle Odister had five boards and four assists.

Alan Williams had a double-double with 33 points and 15 rebounds for the Gauchos (9-5, 0-1). Zalmico Harmon added 10 points. The loss snapped a three- game winning streak.

Cal Poly shot 40.7 percent from the field including 6-of-12 from 3-point range in the first half as it held a 28-24 lead at the intermission. The Gauchos struggled by making just 34.8 percent of their field goal tries in the period.

The Mustangs shot 50 percent from the floor including 5-of-6 from beyond the arc to maintain their lead and secure the victory in the second half. UCSB couldn't keep pace by shooting 45.2 percent on field goal tries.

Cal Poly outscored the Gauchos 34-11 in bench points.
