BRADENTON -- Authorities say a Bradenton woman used her 5-year-old son to assist her during a shoplifting.

The incident occurred at 5:18 p.m. Wednesday at the Walmart at 5315 Cortez Rd. W., Bradenton, according to a Bradenton Police Department report.

Gloria Reyes, 30, selected multiple video games and movies from the electronics department of the Walmart, the report states.

Reyes then went to various other departments in the store and selected other merchandise.

In the grocery department, Reye's son opened all the games and movies, a loss prevention officer told officers.

Reyes then went to another location in the store where she put the games and movies along with other merchandise into a baby diaper bag that she had in the shopping cart when she entered the store, the report states.

Reyes paid for some items at the check-out, but did not pay for the concealed items in the diaper bag, the report states.

The total amount of merchandise was $259.78, according to the report.

Reyes, who was arrested Wednesday and charged with petty theft, posted a $120 bond and was released from the Manatee County jail Thursday, according to the sheriff's office website.
