Chattanooga, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - Z. Mason notched a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds, helping the Chattanooga Mocs come away with a 90-81 win over the Samford Bulldogs in Southern Conference play at McKenzie Arena.
Mason sank 11-of-14 at the free-throw line for the Mocs (9-8, 3-0 SoCon), who extended their winning streak to five games. Ronrico White had a game-high 28 points on 12-of-12 at the line. Casey Jones (14 points), Martynas Bareika (12) and Gee McGhee (11) also reached double figures.
Tim Williams and Isaiah Williams both scored 15 points to lead the Bulldogs (6-12, 0-3), who have lost four of their last five. Jordan Capps (13 points), Connor Miller (12) and Tyler Hood (12) were also solid.
The Mocs started strong, shooting 51.5 percent from the field in the first half, including 6-of-13 from 3-point range. The Bulldogs, shooting 42.3 percent, got just 1-of-10 to fall from the perimeter and went into halftime trailing, 48-33.
In the second half, the Bulldogs improved to shoot 47.5 percent from the floor, while the Mocs dropped to 38.1 percent. Chattanooga was able to hang onto the lead at the charity stripe, however, making 23-of-28.
The Mocs got 36 points from bench players and never trailed in the contest.
