Manatee commission OKs plans for RV park near Palmetto

January 9, 2014

MANATEE -- The Manatee County Commission Thursday unanimously approved a rezoning request and a general development plan for the McMullen Creek RV Park.

The park near Bayshore and Palm View roads near Palmetto will provide sites for 499 recreational vehicles.

The property boasts a 10-acre lake on a 92-acre site.

The RV park would include amenities such as a floating dock and pool area along the lake, community recreational area, office and showers and a walkway to a canoe/kayak launch along McMullen Creek, according to county documents.

There have been a number of inquiries about a 1927 historic home on the property that developers have offered free to anyone who can move it, but no taker has stepped up yet, according to a representative of the developer.

The developer is Cone Corp./Cone and Graham, Inc.
