Bluegrass music is enjoying a massive revival among fans of country, folk and rock music. And one the artists who have most helped that revival is Dale Ann Bradley.
Bradley has won the Female Vocalist of the Year Award from the International Bluegrass Music Association (2007-2009, 2011 and 2012).
She's coming to Bradenton this week, performing today at Mixon Fruit Farm for a "Concert in the Grove."
She's joined by some other acclaimed bluegrass musicians. Resonator guitarist Phil Leadbetter has also won an IBMA award and been nominated for a Grammy. Guitarist Steve Gulley, another IBMA winner, plays with Leadbetter in an acoustic bluegrass band called Grasstowne.
The Walker Brothers (Jarrod and Cory) have performed on ABC and CBS national television specials with Keith Urban, Earl Scruggs and Ricky Skaggs and appeared several times on "The Grand Ole Opry."
That's a pretty impressive lineup for anyone who likes bluegrass. The tickets are affordable and the setting, outside on the grounds of the Mixon Fruit Farm, should be idyllic for this kind of down-home music. Soft drinks, food, beer and wine will be available. Parking is free.
Details: 6 p.m. Jan. 9, Mixon Fruit Farms, 2525 Seventh St. E., Bradenton. Tickets: $15. Information: 941-748-5829, www.mixon.com.
