Homeless man charged in stabbing in Manatee

MANATEE -- A homeless man stabbed another homeless man during an argument in southern Manatee County early Wednesday, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

During the argument, the suspect, Myron Coleman, believed the victim was about slap him, so he grabbed a weapon and stabbed him first, according to a news release.

The victim was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital, where he was treated and released.

Coleman, 59, faces a charge of aggravated battery, according to the sheriff's office. He was being held without bond at the Manatee County jail.

The incident happened about 1:50 a.m. near the intersection of University Parkway and U.S. 301.
