Recap: DePaul vs. Creighton

Chicago, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - Doug McDermott scored 19 points to lead five players in double figures for the Creighton Bluejays, who ran past the DePaul Blue Demons, 81-62, in a Big East matchup at Allstate Arena.

Avery Dingman netted 16 points off the bench for Creighton (13-2, 3-0 Big East), which has won eight straight. Ethan Wragge hit 4-of-8 from beyond the arc to finish with 12 points and Austin Chatman and Will Artino each added 10 points.

Brandon Young recorded a game-high 24 points and Cleveland Melvin tacked on 16 for DePaul (8-8, 0-3), which has lost three straight.

In the first half the Bluejays shot just 41.9 percent from the floor, but they did hit on 5-of-11 from beyond the arc. The Blue Demons shot a superior 44.4 percent from the field, but had four fewer field goal attempts.

Creighton hit on 56 percent from the field, including 6-of-10 from 3-point range, to run away with the victory in the second half. DePaul only managed to sink 36.7 percent from the field in the final 20 minutes.

The Bluejays had a 26-10 scoring advantage in second chance points. DePaul outscored Creighton, 10-0, on the fast break.
