Recap: LSU vs. Tennessee

Baton Rouge, LA (SportsNetwork.com) - Jordan McRae scored 19 points and had five assists for the Tennessee Volunteers in their comfortable 68-50 win over the LSU Tigers at the Maravich Center in both teams first SEC match.

McRae was efficient with his scoring as he shot 6-of-7 from the field, was 3- of-3 from behind the arc and 4-of-4 from the free-throw line for the Volunteers (10-4, 1-0 SEC). Jarnell Stokes helped his team with a double-double of 15 points and 15 rebounds as well as four steals. Antonio Barton scored 14 to help extend the Volunteers win streak to four.

The Tigers (9-4, 0-1 SEC) were led by Jordan Mickey, who scored 14 on 7-of-10 shooting from the field and also recorded five blocks. Johnny O'Bryant III scored 11, had a team-high seven rebounds and blocked three shots. The Tigers, who have now lost two straight after a five-game win streak, were outrebounded by a 40-28 margin.

The Volunteers took a commanding 38-24 lead into the locker room after closing the half with an 18-6 run. The shot 53.8 percent from the floor in the frame, while LSU lagged behind, netting 34.4 percent.

The second half the Tigers held the Volunteers to just 38.5 percent shooting from the floor, but they never cut into the lead as they only improved their percentage marginally, to 39.3 percent.

The Tigers forced 16 turnovers and had nine blocks and nine steals but could not overcome their deficit from behind the arc, as the Volunteers scored 24 points from 3-point range compared to just six for the home team.
