Manatee robbery target punches way out of trouble

January 7, 2014

MANATEE — A man foiled a would-be robbery at Tuscany Lakes Apartments by punching one of his attackers.

The burglary target was walking from the Suncoast Workforce bus to the apartment complex in the 3500 block of 36th Court East, Ellenton, at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, according to a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office report.

As the victim was walking west toward his apartment, he reportedly heard feet running up behind him. Two unknown males grabbed each arm and simultaneously pulled his hoodie over his head.

The suspects then demanded: “Gimme what you got!”

The target told deputies he punched one of the suspects, broke free form their grasp and ran from the area.

No injuries were reported nd no property or valuables stolen, the report states.

Deputies are trying to locate the suspects, reportedly in their 40s and possibly homeless.
