Recap: Vanderbilt vs. Northeastern

Nashville, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - Rod Odom scored a game-high 21 points and pulled down seven rebounds as the Vanderbilt Commodores captured a 79-49 win over the Northeastern Huskies in non-conference action at Memorial Gym.

Damian Jones was responsible for 16 points and six blocked shots, Eric McClellan 14 points and Kyle Fuller 11 for the Commodores (8-4) as they won for the fourth time in five games.

The Huskies (3-11) were led by Reggie Spencer with 15 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the floor, while David Walker contributed nine points on 3-of-6 shooting beyond the arc.

Vandy exploded in the first half with a staggering 76.0 percent shooting from the field, including 5-of-6 accuracy beyond the arc, en route to a commanding 46-18 lead at the break. The visitors made a total of just seven field goals in the first half.

In the second half the Commodores dipped to 47.8 percent shooting from the floor, but still managed to cruise to the comfortable win.

The hosts converted 62.5 percent from the floor overall and 8-of-12 on the perimeter.
