Oxford, MS (SportsNetwork.com) - Devin Oliver logged 26 points, including an overtime buzzer-beater, leading the Dayton Flyers to an 83-80 win over the Ole Miss Rebels at Tad Smith Coliseum.
Oliver shot 11-of-14 from the field for the Flyers (12-3), who have been victorious in five of their last six contests. Dyshawn Pierre and Smoochie Smith each chipped in 11 points. Matt Kavanaugh and Vee Sanford added 10 apiece.
Jarvis Summers tallied a game-high 29 points for the Rebels (9-4), who have lost two of their last three. Marshall Henderson and Aaron Jones recorded 15 and 10 points, respectively. Sebastian Saiz grabbed 11 rebounds.
Both teams struggled to get their offense going in the first half with the Flyers shooting 37 percent from the field and the Rebels mired at 33.3 percent. Ole Miss caught up at the line, hitting 14-of-18, and took a 31-28 lead into halftime.
In the second half the Flyers shot 58.1 percent from the field, including 5- of-12 from the perimeter. The Rebels shot 58.3 percent from the floor and again relied on free throws, sinking 11-of-14. With 1:53 on the clock, a Summers jumper knotted the score at 73, sending the meeting into overtime.
With 23 remaining in the extra session, Kyle Davis made a layup for Dayton to tie the game at 80. After an Ole Miss turnover, Oliver won it with a 3-pointer just before time expired.
Dayton outscored Ole Miss in the paint 34-29 and in second-chance points, 18-11. Neither team led by more than six points in a tight game with 12 lead changes.
