FHP investigating Manatee hit and run


MANATEE -- The Florida Highway Patrol is looking for a white pickup truck or SUV that was involved in a hit and run accident Saturday.

The accident took place at 5:50 p.m. at 15th Street East and 301 Boulevard East, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.

The pickup truck or SUV was heading south on 15th Street East when it approached a 2000 Ford Econoline, which was stopped for a red light at 301 Boulevard East and was being driven by a 69-year-old Bradenton woman, the report states.

The pickup truck or SUV did not stop and ran into the rear of the Ford, which caused front end damage to the suspect vehicle, according to the report.

A possible Florida license plate of 779DBD was obtained, the report states.

The driver of the vehicle that fled the scene was described as slim and clean shaven.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has any knowledge as to the identity or location of the hit and run driver and/or vehicle is asked to contact Trooper G. Monge of the Florida Highway Patrol at 941-751-7647.
