Mixon Fruit Farms celebrates 75 years with special luncheon

BRADENTON -- The Mixon family will be hosting a luncheon Thursday to celebrate Mixon Fruit Farms' 75 years in business. They have invited many other family-owned business owners that have been in business more than 40 years, and guests including Florida Gov. Rick Scott, Bill Lupfer, president of The Florida Attractions Association, and Bill Herrle of the National Federation of Independent Business.

"We want to use this opportunity to recognize other families that have been in Manatee County for a long period of time," Janet Mixon said in a press release. Businesses including Cox Chevrolet, Costantino Body Shop, Sandhoff Construction and Smokey's Glass are among the luncheon's honored guests.

"Owning a business is hard and owning a family business is even harder," says Dean Mixon. "We have known and worked with most of these families for all my life, and many worked with my father, Bill Mixon, before me."

Mixon Fruit Farm is located at 2525 27th St E , Bradenton. For more information call 941-748-5829.
