Man killed crossing I-275 in Manatee

MANATEE -- A pedestrian was killed when he was struck by a car while crossing Interstate 275 in northern Manatee County on Friday night.

The unidentified man was crossing from north to south around 7:20 p.m. at mile marker 6 when he was hit by a Honda van traveling eastbound, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.

"No disabled vehicles were found in the area that were related to the pedestrian," the FHP report states.

Results of a blood-alcohol test on the victim were pending, according to the report.

No charges were filed against the driver, a 53-year-old Spring Hill man. He was uninjured, the report said.
