Sarasota collars 45 DUIs during holiday patrols

SARASOTA — The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office saturation patrols in December resulted in 19 DUI arrests and 216 citations.

In addition, the agency participated in the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” holiday campaign from Dec. 14 to Jan. 1, which resulted in 26 DUI arrests, 39 seatbelt citations, 70 suspended license citations, 193 citations for no proof of insurance, 109 speeding citations, 30 citations for reckless driving and three child seatbelt citations.

Saturation patrols will be conducted Jan. 4, Jan. 11, Jan. 18-19 and Jan. 25.

This initiative is conducted in partnership with Mothers Against Drunk Driving and supported through a grant from the Florida Department of Transportation.
