Flip-flop mishap leads to $25,000 in crash damage

BRADENTON -- A woman's flip-flop mishap while pulling out of a parking spot led to $25,000 in damages, Bradenton police report.

The 65-year-old was pulling out of a parking spot at the Riverview Condos in downtown Bradenton around 10:30 a.m. Saturday when her flip-flop got stuck as she was pressing down on the gas at full throttle, police said.

The woman's car accelerated backward over a decorative pillar, through shrubs and across Barcarrota Boulevard, where it struck three parked vehicles, causing $25,000 in damages, the report states.

No injuries were reported.
