Prep basketball briefs | Lakewood Ranch girls win; Saint Stephen's boys fall

LEHIGH ACRES — LaDazhia Williams and Megan Hagy each recorded a double-double as the Lakewood Ranch girls basketball team collected a 49-41 victory over Lake Nona in the first round of the Queen of Palms holiday tournament.

Williams had 15 points and 10 rebounds, while Hagy had 12 points and 14 boards for the Mustangs (13-1), who will meet Tampa Steinbrenner in a semifinal at 8:30 p.m. Saturday.

Saint Stephen’s rally falls shy

ST. PETERSBURG — The Saint Stephen’s boys erased a 10-point deficit and took a lead before falling to St. Petersburg Keswick Christian 66-57 in the Keswick Christian Suncoast Christmas Classic. Sid Price paced the Falcons (3-6) with 16 points, six assists and six steals. Omar Sammour added 10 points.

Saint Stephen’s will meet St. Petersburg Dixie Hollins at 2:30 p.m. today in the consolation bracket.
