Holiday photo contest

HERALD STAFF REPORTDecember 27, 2013

Herald readers sure have some holiday spirit!

We asked readers to share that spirit with us by entering their favorite, funniest, most endearing holiday photos in the Herald's Holiday Photo Contest for the past month on Bradenton.com. And they delivered.

Popular themes were little ones meeting Santa Claus for the first time and dogs and cats underneath the

Christmas tree.

Some entries were uniquely Floridian, like one couple's Christmas card photo taken in the swimming pool, folks raising a holiday toast in their shorts next to the Gulf of Mexico, the lit-up pink flamingos pulling Santa's sleigh in a yard display or little "Toni Claus," a child dressed up like Father Christmas and hopping down a "chimney" on the beach, complete with inflatable reindeer.

In the end, it was a young family's cute Christmas photo that was our top winner. In fact, the photo, which features a baby girl in her best holiday dress, is titled "Dear Santa, I'm too cute to be good!"

So how's this for a Christmas gift: Our winners collected a $500 gift card for first place!

Not to be outdone, second place was a $300 gift card, and third was a $200 gift card.

And to top it off, our fourth-place winner, a voters choice determined by readers, won a $50 dealsaver credit.

You can check out the winning photos and all the entries online at bradenton.com/contests.

Happy holidays!
