Employees of the law firm of Icard, Merrill, Cullis, Timm, Furen & Ginsburg, P.A. joined forces to raise $1,140 for All Faiths Food Bank as part of a special holiday outreach project that was coordinated by firm President Robert G. Lyons. Staff from all three office locations -- Sarasota, Lakewood Ranch and Port Charlotte -- participated in the campaign.
"Icard Merrill supports the community and local nonprofits in various ways all year long, but we wanted to do something extra during the holiday season," Lyons said. "It is disturbing to realize how just many families in this area may not have enough to eat, and this small project is a way that we could have a tangible and immediate impact on their lives."
Because of a matching gifts campaign in effect at All Faiths Food Bank throughout December, the firm's donation will automatically be doubled to $2,280.
All Faiths Food Bank is a member of Feeding America and the hub of the hunger relief system in DeSoto and Sarasota counties. Last year, the organization distributed nearly 6.2 million pounds of food equating to 5.2 million meals through 195 pantries, soup kitchens, churches, community centers and programs.
