Christmas Eve confrontation follows Manatee motorcycle tow

December 24, 2013

MANATEE — A tow truck driver will likely not forget his Christmas Eve confrontation.

Shortly after 8 a.m. Tuesday a man called the company to tow his motorcycle to his trailer at 570 57th Ave. W., according to a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office report.

The bill for the tow was $145 and the motorcycle owner reportedly refused to pay full price, instead offering $122. The driver told him he couldn’t accept a partial payment.

The motorcycle owner then reportedly shoved money in the driver’s face, striking him in the mouth. The motorcycle owner continued to push the victim around with his hands, according to the report.

When a deputy arrived , the motorcycle owner reportedly decided to pay full price instead of going to jail for battery.

After getting his money, the tow driver, perhaps clutching to a bit of Christmas spirit, decided not to press charges.
