Palmetto rancher victimized by cattle panel thefts

PALMETTO — A Manatee County cattle rancher reported 35 cattle panels, valued at $85 each for a total loss of $2,975, were taken from his field last week in the 2500 block of 17th Street East, Palmetto.

Cattle panels usually refer to fencing used by ranchers for feed lots.

The victim, whose field is on the south side of the road, called in the theft at approximately 6 p.m. Monday to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.
