Cody Oxendine, attempted burglary, parole violation, no bond

Patrol officers thwarted a burglary early Monday at an East Bradenton laundry, arresting two teenagers at the scene.

At 12:45 a.m., officers were alerted by a commercial burglary alarm at Samoset Laundry, 3119 15th St. E. When a deputy arrived a few moments later, he saw a suspect later identified as Cody Oxendine, 18, walking away from the business.

Oxendine did not obey the deputy's orders to stop and continued to walk away. But the deputy spotted another suspect behind the business, who he detained. Other deputies arrived and found Oxendine hiding inside a nearby residence.

In checking Oxendine's information, deputies found an active warrant for violation of probation on burglary charges. The rear door of the laundry business had fresh pry marks and damage from the attempted burglary, but no entry had been made, according to a report. The second suspect, who is 17, had latex gloves in his back pocket. He was taken to the Juvenile Booking Facility and charged with burglary and possession of burglary tools.

Oxendine was jailed on charges of burglary, obstruction, and violation of probation.
