Bradenton man punched, robbed after van follows him home

December 23, 2013

— A Bradenton man was punched and robbed outside his home early Monday, minutes after a van followed him home, Manatee sheriff's deputies report.

The victim left El Paisano and began driving home when he noticed an early 1990s Brown Ford Aerostar van following him, according to the report. When he pulled into his driveway in the 3300 block of 17th Street East, the van passed his home.

The van turned around and passed his residence again, then went around the corner, the victim reported. He walked down the sidewalk to see where the van had gone, and a man approached him and punched him in the face. The victim fell down, and another man came up. The two suspects took the victim's wallet, which contained about $500 in cash, a credit card and identification, according to the report.

The suspects fled the scene in the van heading west toward 15th Street East. When deputies arrived just after 2:30 a.m., the area was searched but the suspects could not be found. The victim had a bruise on the right side of his face and a cut lip, but he denied medical attention.
