Adoptable pets at Bishop Animal Shelter

Meet some of the latest additions to the family of adoptable pets at Bishop Animal Shelter. Rocking the Santa hat at left is Ringo, an Australian shepherd mix and consequently the best-behaved of the bunch. Sporting the oversized bow at center is Callie, a beagle and terrier mix whose penchant for mischievous merrymaking is exceeded only by her cuteness. Last but not least, in the star-spangled elf collar is Kush, an affable and doting Jack Russell mix. All three of these dogs share one need in common - they're all looking for a home full of the kind of love and attention they deserve. But be warned! None of them get along with squirrels. So if you're in a position to give a little extra this holiday season, and even if your holiday cheer doesn't quite extend to adopting a forever friend (look at that face!), or if you happen to be a friend of the lowly squirrel, you can always donate much needed pet supplies - toys, food and bedding, to any of our area shelters. That way you can help pave the way for some other lucky soul to increase their daily quotient of dog hair, drool, and all-around love. Ringo, Callie and Kush are only 3 of 194 guests in search of homes at Bishop - that's including cats, two ferrets and a guinea pig. That's a lot of mouths to feed and pets to keep entertained! P.S. No squirrels were harmed in the making of this photo. PAUL VIDELA/Bradenton Herald
