Pilot unscathed in emergency landing on Parrish road

MANATEE — An aircraft safely made an emergency landing in the 10000 block of Corbett John Road in Parrish at 8:38 p.m. Wednesday.

The incident was reported to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office which conducted a Homeland Security check on the airplane and pilot, a report indicated.

Pilot Jim Zientara told a deputy he left Zephyrhills Municipal for a joy ride in his four-seater plane when the engine shut off on his way back home.

Zientara landed the plane on vacant farm land owned by Florida Power & Light off Corbett John Road,.

Zientara contacted the Federal Aviation Administration, which sent a representative to Parrish to inspect the airplane.

Zientara had no injuries nor was there any damage to the aircraft, according to the report.
