Parrish man seriously injured in hit-and-run crash

— A Parrish man was seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash as he was walking on a Sarasota road Friday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The 37-year-old man was taken to Blake Medical Center following the incident, which happened around 9:15 p.m. at Lockwood Ridge Road and 40th Street, investigators said.

The driver was headed northbound on Lockwood Ridge in the outside right lane when he struck the pedestrian, who was walking in the same lane, according to the FHP.

The front of the vehicle struck the man, causing him to travel onto the hood of the vehicle and over the top, an FHP media release states. The vehicle continued traveling north on Lockwood Ridge.
