Kendyl Rager, battery, $500 bond

MANATEE — A fight in the parking lot of the Publix at 2875 University Parkway has earned one woman a battery charge.

The incident occurred at 1 p.m. Tuesday, according to a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office report. Kendyl Lynne Rager, 20, of the 200 block of Lockwood Ridge Road, hit a female victim with a closed fist, kicked and slapped the victim with an open hand, according to the report.

The victim had reportedly just gotten fired from her job and was walking to her car when Rager knocked her to the ground and began striking her.

The report does not say if the battery was related to the firing.

The victim reportedly could not get away from Rager so several women witnesses came to the aid of the victim and pulled Rager off.

A deputy reportedly found Rager’s knees dirty from kneeling on the ground and her knuckles split and bleeding from striking the victim.

Rager also had blood on her pants from wiping her bloody knuckles, according to the report. The victim reportedly had mild swelling and redness under her eyes from the attack and was crying. The victim told the deputy she was afraid Rager would retaliate for being arrested.

Rager posted $500 on her battery charge and was released from the Manatee County jail Tuesday, the same day she was incarcerated, according to the sheriff’s office website.
