MANATEE -- An RV park with 499 sites was tentatively approved Thursday 5-2 by the Manatee County Planning Commission.

The commission approved a rezoning request and a general development plan for the McMullen Creek RV Park at Bayshore and Palm View roads, in Palmetto.

The 92.13-acre site includes a 10-acre lake, and will also feature a community recreational area, office and showers, according to county documents.

The project is being developed by Cone Corp./Cone and Graham Inc.

The property also has on it a vacant, 1927 historic house in good condition that the developer would give for free to anyone who could move it, according to Marla Hough, who addressed the commission on the developer's behalf.

The planning commission is an advisory body only. The proposal is slated to come before the Manatee County Commission for a final decision at 1:30 p.m. Jan. 9.
