Faces in business: Thomas W. Goldman

December 11, 2013

Title: Attorney

Company: Goldman & Loughlin, PLLC

What was the best business advice you ever received?

Work long and hard and try to be fair to your clients.

If you could choose another profession, what would it be?

Real estate developer. When I was young I bought some property, subdivided it and built four houses on it. It piqued an interest.

What's the biggest risk you have taken in your career?

Moving from Meridian, Mississippi, where I practiced law, to Greenwich Village, New York, to go to law school and get a Master of Laws degree to be able to teach. This was in 1972. Giving up a steady income, selling my house and moving was a huge financial risk. The risk worked.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you start?

Hong Kong, because of the different business culture. This city is loaded with international businesses and I'd like to get some contacts there.
