Mysterious ‘Mookie’ sought in Manatee armed robbery

December 8, 2013

MANATEE — Where is Mookie and what is his full name?

That’s what the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office hopes to discover after an armed robbery that reportedly involved a gun-toting suspect named Mookie in a residence at 12:01 a.m. Sunday in the 2300 block of 30th Avenue West.

A 29-year-old victim told deputies he was home alone and locked in his bedroom, although his front door was unlocked.

The victim said a person he only knows as “Mookie” came into his house, kicked in the bedroom door and brandished a gun, according to the report.

The victim said Mookie took $500 in cash from the victim’s pant’s pocket at gunpoint. The victim told authorities Mookie and a female accomplice ran out of his house with his money and got into a four-door car.

No one was injured, the report states.
