Manatee logs another 'sliding glass' jewelry theft

HERALD STAFF REPORTDecember 6, 2013

MANATEE -- Manatee County law enforcement agencies have reported an increase in jewelry thefts where the perpetrators go through a sliding glass door to gain entrance to their crime target.

Apparently, it has happened again.

Unknown suspects got into a condo in the 4400 block of Independence Drive by cutting a screen in the rear lanai, according to a Manatee County Sheriff's Office report.

The suspects then pried the sliding glass door off its tracks, the report states.

Once inside, the suspects stole several pieces of jewelry.

There have been no arrests in the case, the report states.

The incident occurred around 12:45 p.m, Thursday, according to the report.
