Pair of freshmen lead Mustangs past Pirates

Freshmen LaDazhia Williams (22 points, seven rebounds, five blocks) and Aleah Robinson (13 points, 10 rebounds, four steals) led a balanced scoring attack for the visiting Lakewood Ranch girls basketball team, which blew out rival Braden River 71-34.

The Mustangs improved to 8-0, 2-0 in Class 7A-District 10. Senior Emily Bulfin added 13 points and seven steals for Lakewood Ranch. Sophomore Kailyn Scully chipped in with 10 points, seven boards, six steals and four assists.

SOUTHEAST 54,RIVERVIEW 33 -- Keshawna Robinson's double-double helped carry the visiting Seminoles (10-1) to a victory over the Rams.

Robinson scored 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Breyonna Reed pitched in with 12 points, and DeAngela Mathis had 10 points.

Freshman Shauntavia Green made her varsity debut and scored nine points.

JV: Moriana Williams had 14 points, and Jasmine Williams and Marline Valcin added 13 points apiece as Southeast (7-1) defeated Riverview 50-39. Valcin pulled down 22 rebounds.

PALMETTO 60, CARDINAL MOONEY 32 -- The Tigers rebounded from their first loss behind Jermisha Collins' 27 points to win on the road.

Tina Stephens added nine points and Rilida McDuffie pulled down 13 rebounds for Palmetto (7-1).

BRADENTON CHRISTIAN 37, OUT-OF-DOOR ACADEMY 26 -- Sophie Giardina led the way with 13 points as the visiting Panthers moved to 4-4, 2-1 in Class 3A-District 10.

Katie Swaagman added nine points, and Adrianna Hadden had eight rebounds for BCS. Lisa Hoffman's 10 points paced the Thunder (4-3, 2-1).

Boys basketball

BRADENTON CHRISTIAN 66, OUT-OF-DOOR ACADEMY 49 -- Coleman Barber registered a triple-double with 10 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists, while teammate Ryan Leunk scored 22 points to lead the visiting Panthers (1-3). Amad Brayboy led the Thunder (0-4) with a game-high 26 points.

Girls soccer

BRADENTON CHRISTIAN 4, BAYSHORE 0 -- Madison Cusack knocked in a pair of goals, and Emily Malcom contributed a goal and two assists as the visiting Panthers improved to 4-2-2.

Madison Allen scored the other goal, and Lea Sifrit and Colbi Waller had assists. Goalkeeper Alex Watson made four saves on her way to a shutout.
