Two seriously injured when motorcycle hits deer in East Manatee

MANATEE -- Two Avon Park residents are in serious conditions after hitting a deer on a East Manatee highway early Thursday, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

About 3 a.m., a 65-year-old man was driving east along State Road 64 about one mile east of Dam Road when a deer jumped in front of his motorcycle, according to a news release.

The front of the motorcycle hit the deer, and the bike flipped over on it's left side as a result of the impact.

The driver and his 70-year-old passenger were ejected from the bike. Both were taken to Blake Medical Center in Bradenton to be treated for serious injuries, according to FHP

Neither were wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
