Sheriff: Topless woman arrested at Walmart in Manatee

Mary Seitz, battery on officer, resisting arrest, disorderly intoxication, no bond.

MANATEE — A 63-year-old Sarasota woman was arrested in front of the Walmart store on Lockwood Ridge Road at 8:26 p.m. Monday and charged with battery on an officer and disorderly conduct after she reportedly struck a sergeant of the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office with a closed fist and later refused requests to keep her clothes on.

Mary Seitz was sitting on a bench in front of the store visibly intoxicated, according to a sheriff’s office arrest report. Seitz took off her shirt and was topless in front of the store, the report states.

Two law officers tried to cover Seitz but she was combative and punched the sergeant while swinging her arm, according to the report. Seitz repeatedly resisted attempts to keep her dressed, the report adds.

The officers forced her arms through the shirt and pulled it over her head, the report states.

Seitz faces charges of battery on an officer, resisting arrest and disorderly intoxication. She was released from jail after posting bonds totaling $2,120.
