Veterans services officer named Manatee County Government Employee of the Year

MANATEE -- Manatee County veterans services officer Lee Washington was honored Tuesday as Employee of the Year for 2013.

County Commission Chairman Larry Bustle announced the award as Washington's colleagues applauded.

Community Services Director Brenda Rogers called Washington "the top of the crop," noting she had received many acknowledgements about his good work.

The commission read a proclamation designating "Lee Washington Day."
