Sarasota police unveils patrol boat
SARASOTA -- The Sarasota Police Department has a new 34-foot police boat thanks to a grant from the West Coast Inland Navigation District.
The SPD bought a new 34-foot Yellowfin center console boat in September.
Marine Patrol Officer Bruce King said the boat will be used to protect the waterways of Sarasota County.
"This is another way to protect the visitors and residents of the city of Sarasota," King said. "We live in paradise and so many of us take advantage of the beautiful beaches here, we want to make sure the level of protection people expect from our officers on the street is the same on the water."
