Weather alert: Patchy fog may slow morning commute in Bradenton

December 2, 2013

MANATEE -- Motorists in the Bradenton area are being cautioned to slow down Monday morning until fog in the area dissipates, according to the National Weather Service.

Through 8 a.m., areas of low clouds and fog will continue to affect west-central and southwest Florida, including Bradenton and the rest of the Tampa Bay region.

"Some of the fog may reduce visibilities to a half mile or less in some locations," the Weather Service said. "Early morning motorists are urged to slow down, use low-beam headlights and maintain a safe distance between vehicles while traveling this morning."

The fog also will affect marine interests along the Gulf Coast between Pasco County in the north and Lee County in the south, including Manatee and Sarasota counties.

"Blow your horn frequently to signal other boats to your location," the Weather Service said.

As for the rest of the forecast, the Weather Service for Bradenton on Monday is calling for partly sunny skies and a high of 73. Monday night's low is expected to be about 57, again with patchy fog.
