Palmetto holiday fooddrive set for Dec. 6-7
PALMETTO -- The Palmetto Historical Park is collecting non-perishable food items from 5-9 p.m. Dec. 6-7 during Palmetto's Christmas in the Park to help stock the food pantry at First United Methodist Church of Palmetto. Those attending the free event at 515 10th Ave. W., Palmetto, can drop contributions in a collection box at one of two main park entrances.
"I feel people should donate because as members of the Palmetto and Manatee County community it's important that we recognize that there are those less fortunate in their circumstances," said Diane Ingram, supervisor at Manatee County Agricultural Museum Inc.
Since January, the food pantry has provided for 2,942 families. The pantry is operated by volunteers from First United Methodist Church of Palmetto, Family of God Methodist Church and Ellenton Methodist Church.
