Ranch girlsblitz way byBishop Verot

Freshmen led the way Friday night as the host Lakewood Ranch routed Fort Myers Bishop Verot 69-40.

LaDhazia Williams scored 18 points and pulled down five rebounds, and Aleah Robinson came up with 11 points, six assists and four boards for the Mustangs (3-0). Sophomore Megan Hagee came up with 10 points and nine rebounds.

CARDINAL MOONEY 40, BRADENTON CHRISTIAN 32 -- Emily Walser and Jacqueline Kulle each notched 11 points as the visiting Cougars (1-3) won the Class 3A-District 10 opener for both teams.

Katei Swaagman came up with 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Panthers (1-3).

FORT MYERS CANTERBURY 38, SAINT STEPHEN'S 12 -- Savannah Sundstrum scored seven points in a losing effort for the visiting Falcons (2-5).

OUT-OF-DOOR ACADEMY 40, IMAGINE SCHOOL OF NORTH PORT 16 -- Jenna Bloch scored 18 points, and Lisa Hoffman added 12 points as the host Thunder (3-2) dispatched the Sharks.

Simone Ford-Hars chipped in with eight rebounds for ODA.

Boys basketball

PALMETTO 68, BAYSHORE 29 -- The host Tigers defeated the Bruins and former Palmetto head coach Wilmore Fowler behind Jarrid Rhodes' 17 points. Stephon Saunders added 13 points, 11 rebounds, six steals and three blocks for Palmetto (3-0).

Wesley Jackson paced Bayshore (0-2) with 16 points.

CARDINAL MOONEY 72, BRADENTON CHRISTIAN 58 -- Ryan McMahon led all scorers with 18 points and added seven assistsas the Cougars slipped past the host Panthers in the Class 3A-District 10 opener for both teams.

Jarred Aabel had 14 points, and Nick Peacock contributed 12 points for Cardinal Mooney (1-1). Justin Najmy added 10 points, and Matt Hueston grabbed nine rebounds.

Ryan Leunk led four double-figure scorers for BCS (0-2) with 16 points. Coleman Barber had 13, Jake Lister added 12, and Vincent Rehfeldt pitched with 10.

SAINT STEPHEN'S 50, FORT MYERS CANTERBURY 44 -- Freshman Jordon Murrell knocked down a 3-pointer with 40 seconds remaining to give the visiting Falcons the lead for good in a victory over the Cougars.

Omar Sammour led Saint Stephen's (2-1) with 21 points. Jake Westberry contributed 13.

Boys soccer

MANATEE 3, SARASOTA 0 -- Santiago Cruz, Mitchell Krebser and Jacob Titsworth scored the goals as the visiting Hurricanes blanked the Sailors to improve to 3-3.

Christopher Titsworth recorded the shutout in goal.

PALMETTO 8, ST. PETERSBURG DIXIE HOLLINS 0 -- Gregorio Calvillo knocked in four goals as the host Tigers routed the Rebels in Class 4A-District 10 matchup.

Hunter Brown, Franky Arroyo, Eduardo Martinez and Josh Furman also scored for the Tigers (6-1, 2-0). Javis Paniagua, Tyler Lawrence and Raul Loera had two assists apiece, while Matt Simonds and Andy Perez had one apiece. Matt Simmonds and Andy Perez combined on the shutout.
