Don't threaten Manatee County commissioners over dog ruling

November 23, 2013

What is wrong with people, issuing threats to Manatee County commissioners? We understand that people are concerned about the court-ordered euthanasia of two dogs that severely injured a youngster in an attack last year. But physically threatening commissioners with bodily harm?

Thousands of emails and petitions have descended on these officials -- who have nothing to do with the court ruling and cannot simply negate a legal order on a whim. Ignorance of the law -- and political reality -- must be to blame.

Shouldn't more concern be directed at the young boy viciously attacked by two dogs? Or is this another case of blaming the victim?

Dogs are man's best friend. Sometimes not so much, so let's be honest about that.
