November 18, 2013

MANATEE -- Detectives are looking for a 31-year-old man they say tried to kill his former girlfriend early Sunday in Bradenton, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

About 3:30 a.m., German Vasquez went to the woman's residence in the 6000 block of 11th Street Court East.

He was supposed to drop off the couple's child, but "an argument ensued and Vasquez became physical" with the woman, a news release states.

"He began punching her and swinging a knife at her, causing several lacerations," the report states.

Vasquez fled the scene while the woman was taken to a hospital, where she was treated and released.

Detectives have obtained a warrant charging Vasquez with attempted murder.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts can call the sheriff's office at 941-747-3011, ext. 1942, or Crime Stoppers at 866-634-TIPS.
