HERALD STAFF REPORTNovember 16, 2013

— An argument between two roommates left one jailed and another hospitalized after he was hit on the back of the head with a 20-pound weight early Saturday, the Bradenton Police Department reports.

The two got into a fight sometime around 2:21 a.m. at the Treesdale Apartments in the 1800 block of Martin Luther King Avenue East, according to police. After he was struck with the weight, the 20-year-old victim fled from the apartment and called a third roommate to pick him take him to the hospital.

The third roommate called 9-1-1, and police were able to locate the victim and transport him to Blake Medical Center, where he was treated for minor injuries and received stitches, police said.

The other roommate, 30-year-old Aurelio Abac Real, was taken into custody without incident at the scene. He is charged with aggravated battery and was being held without bond.

Police say the two got into a fight over "personal matters."

Investigators took photos of the bloody scene and the victim's injury and seized the weight as evidence, officials said.
