Floor & Decor set for VIP party

UNIVERSITY PARK -- Floor & Decor is hosting a VIP party for contractors and others in the construction industry on Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The new retailer will offer prizes to guests as it showcases its newest location, 8415 Lockwood Ridge Road. The store will occupy the 65,000-square-foot space vacated by Albertsons, which closed in mid-2012

The Atlanta-based chain has nearly 40 stores across the country. The University Park location will be Florida's eighth. They have hired about 55 employees.

Local businesses to design church expansion

BRADENTON -- Bayside Community Church has offered a proposed expansion plan to congregants for their church, 15800 State Road 64. Fawley Bryant has been selected as the architect and the construction manager is Willis A. Smith Construction.

The expansion consist of an entry foyer for pre-service gatherings and a 2,500 capacity auditorium. The auditorium features flexible floor and tiered seating focusing on an elevated performance platform. These areas are supported by a broadcast suite, performer's "Green Room" and lounge, living room, mother's room, volunteer offices, café and future commercial kitchen.

The Children's area includes a lagoon-themed play area and 10 new classrooms continuing Bayside's commitment to the youth of the community. The 73,347 square foot addition is planned to provide space for growth and to provide a venue for community events.

Ryland Homes opens Ellenton subdivision

ELLENTON -- Ryland Homes recently opened a new phase for new single-family homes priced from the $240s at Oakleaf Hammock, located at 3709 70th Ave E. in Ellenton off Mendoza Rd. just east of I-75.

Mike Finley, vice president of sales and marketing for Ryland Homes in the Tampa Bay region, said Ryland has introduced four additional floor plans to complement this new phase made up of beautiful conservation and water home sites.

Three, four and five-bedroom single-family homes in the new phase at Oakleaf Hammock will range in size from 2,256 square feet of living space to 3,500 square feet with two- and three-car garages. One and two-story floor plans are available, Finley said.

The Ryland Homes sales office at Oakleaf Hammock is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 6 p.m.

Eat Here opens rooftop lounge with fundraiser

SARASOTA -- During the official opening night of the Rooftop Lounge at Eat Here, proprietor Sean Murphy is honoring and supporting the Mayors' Feed The Hungry by asking guests to contribute $25.

Guests will experience the new Rooftop Lounge and help feed the area's neediest Nov. 22 from 5 to 8:30 p.m. at the Rooftop Lounge, Eat Here, 1888 Main Street. Call 365-8700 for reservations. Free parking is available behind the restaurant.
