Wells Fargo bank robber escapes in Bradenton

MANATEE -- A search is underway for the man who robbed a Wells Fargo bank in Bradenton on Tuesday morning, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

About 9:20 a.m., the man walked into the bank branch at 1510 Cortez Road W., according to a news release.

Witnesses told deputies the suspect walked up to a teller and handed over a note demanding money.

The suspect implied he had a weapon but never brandished it, according to the report.

An undetermined amount of money was taken and the suspect ran away, the release stated.

The bank is near the intersection of Cortez Road and U.S. 41 in the same shopping center with Best Buy, Lowe's, Panera and other businesses.

The suspect was described as between 55 and 65 years old, 5-foot-6 to 5-8 and weighing between 190 and 200 pounds.
