November 12, 2013

MANATEE -- Authorities say a 30-year-old man cut a female victim several times with a razor blade, slammed her down in glass and sprayed the rust-prevention solvent WD-40 all over her body.

William Mitchell was in the Manatee County jail Tuesday on a charge of aggravated battery, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office website. Mitchell was held on a $10,000 bond.

The incident at 2 a.m. Sunday was sparked when a woman told Mitchell she was leaving him, according to a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office report. Mitchell and the victim are boyfriend/girlfriend and lived together as a family, the report states.

Deputies say Mitchell grabbed the victim by the arm, causing a bruise on her left arm. Mitchell also grabbed the victim’s hair, pulling some out, before striking her multiple times causing numerous bruises before slamming her down in broken glass, according to the report.

Mitchells also cut the victim in the right thigh, the left thigh, left forearm and the bottom of her left foot, according to the report.

Mitchell continued to strike the victim and kick her with his foot, the sherif's office said.

The defendant concluded by spraying WD-40 all over the victim’s body, in her hair and down to her feet, the report states. The victim is likely to have permanent scarring, according to the report.

The victim waited for Mitchell to leave for work and then went to her relative’s residence for help. The victim refused EMS, the report indicates.

Mitchell was arrested at his job, which was not identified in the report.
