FHP looking for driver in hit-and-run crash in Manatee

MANATEE -- A hit and run accident at 8:09 a.m. Thursday on McArthur Drive near Alderwood Drive in Manatee County involved one driver who saw the damage he had created and then fled, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.

There were no injuries, the FHP report states.

A 2013 Hyundai Accent, with a 33-year-old Bradenton woman behind the wheel and 9-year-old and 10-year-old passengers, was heading east on McArthur Drive, the report states.

A black 2003 Mercedes E500 was heading west on McArthur Drive.

For reasons unknown, the driver of the Mercedes veered into the Hyundai's eastbound lane and the vehicles collided, the report states.

The Hyundai driver told a trooper that the Mercedes' driver rolled his window down, looked at the damage and fled the scene west on McArthur.

Anyone who may have seen the crash or has any knowledge as to the identity or location of the hit-and-run driver and or vehicle is asked to contact the Florida Highway Patrol at 239-938-1800.
