SARASOTA A Sarasota mother was arrested after an investigation revealed she was doing drugs and drinking in the hours leading up to when investigators say the father injured a 6-month-old, according to the Sarasota County Sheriffs Office.
Krista Mosley, 27, was arrested Wednesday in Lee County and charged with child neglect, according to a news release.
Detectives were first called to Sarasota Memorial Hospital at 6:32 a.m. Oct. 27 after Mosleys baby was brought in with facial and head traumas, police reported.
Mosley, who reportedly appeared tired and had trouble speaking, told detectives she had gone to bed about 1 a.m. and the babys father, Christopher Rounds, brought the child to her drenched in Windex and crying about 5:30 a.m., police reported.
She said she saw she the baby had facial injuries near one eye when she turned on the light.
Mosley and another witness reportedly told detectives Rounds was under the influence of alcohol and K2 and had been the only one awake when the baby was hurt.
Rounds was arrested the same day and reportedly admitted he and Mosley had been taking Xanax, Adderall, cocaine and Molly on and off all day and drank Uncle Mikes Hard Lemonade.
Mosley initially told detectives she had been drinking and taking prescribed medications prior to going to bed. She test positive for amphetamines, cocaine and benzodiazepines in a court-ordered urinalysis Oct. 28.
The baby is now in the custody of relatives.
