MANATEE -- A thief punched a Bradenton man in the face before breaking into his home and stealing his television late Monday, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

About 8:45 p.m., a resident of the 6300 block of Honolulu Court answered a knock at the door. When he opened it, an unknown man punched him in the face, according to a news release.

The resident stumbled backwards into the bathroom and fell to the floor. The intruder grabbed the TV, and when the victim tried to stop him, he punched him again, according the sheriff's office.

The intruder then fled.

A neighbor reported seeing a light-colored SUV leave from in front the victim's residence, but he did not see who was inside, the sheriff's office said.

The victim was treated by paramedics for a small cut above his eye, according to the report.
